Termite Baiting Systems

Eliminate the entire colony — not just the termites you can see. Modern baiting systems are one of the most effective long-term termite solutions available.

How Termite Baiting Works

Baiting systems use specially formulated cellulose stations that termites feed on in preference to surrounding timber. The bait contains a slow-acting insect growth regulator that worker termites carry back to the colony, sharing it with the queen and nestmates.

Over a period of weeks to months, the entire colony is eliminated — not just the foragers. Stations are then left in place and monitored to detect any future activity before it becomes a problem.

In-Ground vs Above-Ground Baiting

We use both in-ground stations installed around the perimeter of your property and above-ground stations placed directly onto active workings inside or outside the building. The right combination depends on your situation.

  • In-ground stations every 3–4 metres around the home
  • Above-ground stations on live termite leads
  • Regular monitoring (typically every 8–12 weeks)
  • Bait replenished as termites consume it
  • Detailed reporting after every visit

When Baiting Is the Right Choice

  • Active termites visible inside the building
  • Properties where soil treatments aren't practical
  • Sensitive sites (childcare, healthcare, schools)
  • Homes with rainwater tanks or organic gardens
  • Long-term colony elimination & monitoring
  • Heritage or hard-to-drill structures

Frequently Asked Questions

How long until baiting eliminates a colony?

Most colonies are eliminated within 3–6 months once termites begin feeding, though this can vary based on colony size and weather conditions.

Do I need both bait stations and a chemical barrier?

Not always — but for high-risk properties we sometimes recommend both. Your technician will explain the pros and cons after the inspection.

How often are stations monitored?

Typically every 8–12 weeks during active treatment, then every 3–6 months once the colony is eliminated to ensure ongoing protection.

Are bait stations safe around pets and kids?

Yes. Stations are tamper-resistant and locked. The active ingredient is contained inside and only consumed by termites.
